On Saturday, October 25, Anola took part in the KCK Public Library's Homegrown Reads, a local author fair. Over 20 local authors read from their titles and chatted with readers throughout the afternoon (1- 4:30 PM). Mysteryscape bookstore sold several titles.

MOSCBWI Conference
SCHOLARSHIP WINNER!
On Saturday, September 6, Anola attended the Fall Conference of the MOSCBWI (Missouri Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators in St. Charles, MO. At the luncheon session, she read Kate's Ocean Garden. Her picturebook manuscript won the conference scholarship contest for the best entry depicting the conference theme, "Seeds of Success."

Webster University Alumni Book Signing
5:30-7:00pm A Webster graduate, Anola will appear at the Alumni & Faculty Authors Meet & Greet, where folks can meet the authors, hear about their work and get pointers on publishing.

River Read

Park University held River Read for the fourth and fifth grade students of the Park Hill School District. Several Kansas City area authors met with the students and talked about writing, reading and good books.

Book Signing in Webster Groves

Webster Groves, MO -- Anola greeted readers and signed books at the Webster Groves Book Shop, a charming, well-stocked independent bookstore.
Hubert the dog and four young readers posed for photos.
Anola wrapped up September with two events on Saturday, 9/28. After a morning at the Johnson County Library Community Fair, she spent the afternoon at the Zona Rosa Barnes & Noble Bookstore greeting readers and signing books.

Overland Park, KS -- An enthusiastic crowd of friends and family and avid readers joined Anola for a book signing event at Mysterscape bookstore. Anola's friend Deanna joined the show as Primmy, a definite crowd pleaser that led to some fascinating discussions. Whisper Island sold out again, and some folks had to put in an order.

Kansas City, MO -- Under perfect, sunny skies, Anola read an excerpt from Whisper Island at one of her favorite hometown bookstores. Afterward, the crowd enjoyed a summertime snack of lemonade and salt water taffy. The treats disappeared--and so did every copy of Whisper Island!

Whisper Island Launch

Rodanthe, NC -- Anola visited the Chicamacomico Life-Saving Station in North Carolina's Outer Banks for the public launch of Whisper Island, her new historical novel for young readers, on July 10.
The young readers of Rodanthe were among the first to purchase the newly released book and had their copies of Whisper Island signed by Anola at the event, which also included games for kids and live demonstrations of the life-saving equipment at the museum.
